NPR, Cashews, and Applesauce

Just a overview of my day. . . Up at five. . . devotions. . . here's a quote from Andrew murry that really struck me this morning. "There are many Christians that wonder why they fail. But think of  the ease with which they talk and join in converstation, spending hours in it, never thinking that all this may be dissipating the soul's power and leading them to spend hours outside the immediate presence of God.  I am afraid this is the great difficulty: We are not willing to make the needed savrifice for the life of continual waiting upon God."

This struck me because last night Crissy and I decided to cut back alot on our media consumption.  We have been listening to NPR on the computer during meals, watching the conventions on CNN.com (Even the Rom Paul Rally was broadcast on CNN!), 3ABN, The Hope channel. . . OnPoint, Cartalk. . . You get the idea.  It is really easy to fill every spare moment with something.   We decided in a way that it was taking away opportunites to think of spiritual things, to listen to God.

After devotions I whipped up a cream sauce with cashews, Crissy heated up some potatoes and steamed some veggies.  (We have starting eating supper for breakfast and breakfast for supper.)  Nathan came by right before 7:00 (Nathan is Crissy's brother.  He's been here for almost 2 weeks now.  Check out his blog here) and we headed to the shop for worship.  After worship David* and I hauled trash to burn using an old lawn mower without a motor as a cart.  It actually works pretty well.  Then we dug a hole for organic waste and hauled a bunch of fire-wood with the Mechanic driving the tractor.   As soon as we finished this I hurried off to get some grass mowed before lunch.

Crissy and I enjoyed our beans and tortillas, we have been getting tortillas from casa 5 lately to save time now that Crissy is teaching.  We were happy today to discover that Dona Marta was helping out at casa 5 today because we like the way that she makes tortillas (thinner and wider).

Lately my kids have been showing up early for work, really early. Sometimes 30 minutes early - before we are finished eating.  They just stand at the window and watch us eat.  It's nice for them to be on time, but 30 min early is not good!  Today was a bit better, only 15 minutes early!  We had a pretty big section to rake and the guys were complaining a bit, but I knew that they could get it done.  They worked really hard and fast because they new they were going to get to play futbol when they finished.  We had a nice game. The teams were pretty lopsided so we ended up loosing pretty bad, but it was fun.  Then Jaime* locked us in the Gym.  Fortunately I had a key to get out a different door.  I  know he would have let us out eventually .

Came home, got a shower, cut up apples for appelsauce (I've been craving applesauce for a long time.)  Then I decided to write a blog. . . then I finnished writing it. . . or I think that's what's happing right now.
