A Pleasant Suprise

Well, it's Sabbath morning and I'm not at church.   I had another flair up yesterday of my Crohn's, not a real bad one, but enough to make me take off work in the afternoon.  I decided to use this weekend to do a juice fast.  I have read that a lot of people have had success with juice or fruit fasting to clease the bowel.   So I am just going to take it easy this weekend and see what happens.

So I was just sitting here, listening to the second part of Kent George's audio blog, when I heard some voices outside my window.  "Adan?"  At first I wasn't to excited, I just wanted to be along and not try to explain to someone about my sickness. But it turned out to be my sabbath school class.  Crissy and I usually attend the class for the little kids, the 5-7 year olds.  They all came by to see me!  After a round of hugs we sang together and the teacher told the story of Jesus healing Peter's mother-in-law.  It was fitting for the story to have a real live sick person (me).  It reminded me of the time when they were practicing their memory verse.  It was Psam 37:24 "Though he stumble, he will not fall, for the LORD upholds him with his hand."   Tomas*, the youngest of the group, was sitting on my lap.  When it was his turn to go to the front and say the verse, he lunged forward before I was ready, and went head first for the concrete sidewalk!  The teacher was close enough and was able to grab him and keep his head from hitting the ground.  It really made the memory verse come alive!

It was a pleasant suprise to have those kids come by and tell me that they missed me.  It makes me think of all the people out there who just need a visit, just need someone to care enough to stop by and say hello.  I think Jesus' love shines through little children more freely than it does through us adults.  We are to constrained by social norms, appearance and political correctness.  Having little Maria* sit beside me and hold my hand (and unconsciously play with my leg hair!) just make me feel special, it just made me feel a little better.

In regards to the story of Peter's mother-in-law: Are you sure they didn't come to heal you so that you would feed them?  Maybe you did.  :)

btw, sorry to hear you aren't feeling well again.  We're keeping you and Crissy in our prayers.
