Letters from the Battlefield-2

On to Nurgina. Like I said, wish I could tell you ALL the details. WOW! what an experience. I will never be the same, (I pray!). And I know many others are being changed as well. The story is still unfolding. Here is the latest: When Nurgina was first "hit" by Satan at the water at Erisurang, she lost her hearing and sight and she doesn't remember anything else 'til Nerehungan. Her mom and Meyli and BingBing who were all with her said she ran home with her eyes closed and her head down! She told them to pray for her and kept saying "Meya'at banar si Seytan" and "Tebangi' ku Empu'" (and all the rest of the round of phrases that she said over and over--that Kiana has probably already told you about)--she said all of this from the time she was "hit" 'til the time she was delivered except when she was sleeping. (and the 3 ladies did pray for her right then when she was first "hit") She doesn't remember anything except starting to regain her hearing a little just for a moment in Nerehungan and she heard them (Mami, I think) say "Megsawag kay ikew" and she said "Mendi' ku ne!!" and Nalib said something like "well, how can we help you then? You (plural) will have to pray to (your) God" (but I'm not sure of those exact words). They respected her wish but at some point she apparently stopped breathing for a long time (they say maybe half an hour--but it's just their guess) and Buba and everyone was crying--they were all very scared. And of course her mom and I don't know who else were praying for her. Then here's another new part. Her mom said at some point she remembered they had gone to the Siburan and so she asked for forgiveness and that's when Nurgina started breathing again!!

She doesn't remember anything else until Monday afternoon after 6:00 when she started getting her hearing and sight back. She was soooo excited and happy (but still really weak--she barely moved her head ONLY--until she woke up and then she could move her arms and legs---but was so weak she could hardly lift them up except to give hugs--which she insisted on doing to EVERY single person that came in the door--along with many thanks to them and to God! She continously praised God and wanted to constantly sing and pray and talk about her story. She didn't know (but we didn't know she didn't know) what exactly had happened to her, though until it slowly unfolded over the days. She seemed to know Satan was the cause and God was the answer, but she doesn't remember screaming for help or saying any of the phrases. She was a little embarrassed when I first started telling her about what had happened while she was asleep. (She still didn't know until yesterday).

And here's another amazing new part: her mom told us last evening that Monday afternoon right before Nurgina woke up, she was in the room alone with Nurgina. She was sitting at her head praying when she remembered again about her prayer in Nerehungan about the Siburan. So she asked again for God to forgive them and then (she's not exactly sure of the order of all these things but this part she knows for sure): she heard a woman's voice say "are you worried about your daughter?" and she said "no, I have hope in God" and the voice said "go get that hot rice and feed it to her" and so she jumped up excitedly and ran over and got the rice. She prayed for the food and then started to give the rice to Nurgina. And at that point Nurgina started to wake up!!

And here's the story of her waking up from my perspective:(I don't know what Kiana has already told you, but I'll add my point of view here):

The last group of kids and church members had left after singing and praying--and I had just gotten back from delivering rice to Mildin...We SM's were sitting on the porch talking about Nurgina...we might have even been planning the "night shift" of prayers at that point, but I can't remember. And then her mom called us and said "Nurgina is calling you" and I thought "she's been calling us for 2 days now! What could be new?" but I figured it must be something different for her to say something (since she's usually pretty quiet) so I ran in and found Nurgina awake! She reached out for a hug and kept saying "Wendy! Selamat banar. Selamat Ki Empu'! Meya'at banar si Seytan, Mebasag banar si Empu'. Selmat ki Emupu'! Maya telinga ku. Maya mata ku. Mebiri' ku rupa mu!" She thanked me and praised God over and over and kept asking "where's the rest of the church members? Where's Sublito? Where's Buba? Where's Kiana? Where's Becky? etc.) The rest of the SM's rushed in when they realized what was going on and Lebin and Sublito came too and we all cried and sang and rejoiced and prayed and talked about it until well after dark.

She continues to rejoice and tell everyone about her story but starting Tuesday later in the morning I started noticing the light and joy leaving her voice but I thought she was just exhausted. Then she told me later that evening that she had remembered that morning about them going to the Siburan. And I realized that must be why she was so sad. We have discussed several times how this experience is helping so many other people and how God FORGAVE her etc. and she agreed and seems to really understand, though it is still embarrassing and she is dissapointed in herself and still a little sad about it. She also said she was not praying and reading the bible as much recently.

I gotta get on to the next business, it's late, but hope you're praising God as much as we are and praying for Nurgina and the church members during this time.

Praising God!!
