4 months in El Paso

Well it's been 4 long months since I arrived at my fist duty station, Ft Bliss, in El Paso TX. I have kept myself busy getting into as many military training courses as they will let me. I have taken HazMat Handeling, Unit Armorer, DoD GPS, Advanced Drivers Training, and done 2 cycles at the shooting ranges, each about a week long. I have also been able to start laying the ground work for getting my company of 100+ people involved in sponsoring a build with Habitat for Humanity. I continue to see many opportunities to reach out and make a difference in the lives of those around me. There are many homeless people here in el paso. I would like to find a way to help them. They sit on the corners or intersections and hold up signs that say things like "Will take verbal abuse for food". It breaks my heart to see them and I have stopped to give them granola bars and apples I take from the Dining Facility. I would like to be able to take them all to walmart and get them 50$worth of food each week. I have been able to pass along Eric and Leslie Luddy books, John Eldrige books, and the book I had on boundaries. Its so great to see how peoples lives seem to brighten after they beging to truely believe God loves them.
