We came up with he following characteristics of Jesus:
- faithful witness
- firstborn from the dead
- ruler of the kings of the earth
- loves us
- freed us from our sins
In verse 6 it continues:
- made us a kingdom and priests.
We noted that we were familiar with Jesus as the firstborn from the dead, and loving us, and freeing us from our sins, but the idea that he is the faithful witness and the ruler of the kings of the earth is something we haven't thought about much. Jesus making us to be a kingdom of priests is also something we don't tend to think or talk about a great deal. These not-so-frequently-mentioned attributes should be further pondered.
