How is Jesus the faithful witness?

In verse 5, Jesus is called "the faithful witness."  How is this?  What is Jesus the fathful witness of?

Faithful Witness

Faithful - unerring, honest, truth; witness - saw with His Own eyes.  So He is the faithful witness because He was also from before the beginning of time, as He states elsewhere that He was the first and the last...

The first begotten of the dead must refer to the fact that Jesus is called The Only Begotten of the Father, and He's the first One to have died...

I think this links back to

I think this links back to the first several verses where we find out where this revelation came from and how it came to us.  God gave it to Jesus who gave it to his angel, who gave it to John, who gave it to us.  So, perhaps this is talking about Jesus as the faithful witness of what he wanted John to write down.  (Of course this applies for everything else Jesus said as well.)
