Job News

Yesterday we were informed that we will have 5 unpaid days off, one per month for the next 5 months.   While I was a little surprised, I wasn't shocked.  If we had to lose 5 paid days, I'm thankful it's stretched out, one per month, instead of one week.  One full week would pose hardships for a lot of folks.
We had several meetings yesterday where we could ask questions of our publisher, and others of the leadership team.  They maintain we are still a profitable company, but they want to enact these moneysaving measures now, and not when we are in the red.

We shall see how it goes.  Personally, I'm thankful I have a job, and one where I enjoy coming in every day.  One day per month will not pose a hardship for us.   And we know which days they are so we are able to plan and budget.

I wonder how much of this is newspapers in general or how much is related to the current economic issues.  And there is a lot to be said for enjoying your job!  Hopefully this one-day pay per month for 5 months will be all they feel they have to do!
