a second joy of motherhood

For the last couple of weeks, Sarah has been spending the first half of her nap in bed and the second half of her nap (after crawling to find me) in my arms. Sometimes I read while she is sleeping, sometimes I'm on the internet, but many times I just sit back in the chair, feel her warmth and delight in the opportunity to have this close moment with her.

a joy of motherhood

When I was a kid, we always had a cat or two hanging around the house. Without fail, whichever cat we had at the time would jump up on the lap and lay right in front of the book I was currently reading. I didn't think twice about gently tossing the cat off the lap so that I could get back to my reading.
