"Days are filled with sorrow & care...." And a lot of study

Pouring over tremendously engaging outlines on infectious esophagitis and fat textbooks explaining the ins and outs of antipsychotic drugs & their possible side effects, I can just feel myself being so incredibly uplifted by all this wonderful new information that I'm cramming into my head in hopes of passing my boards the first time around. Nearly $500 isn't something you want to pay twice (or three or four times) just 'cause your not smart enough yet.

In between the amazingly engaging dates with my textbooks & flash cards, I fit in the bread and butter of my life: washing week-old dishes, taking out my trash, taking a plunge in the pool, hammering out the first page of Rachmaninaff's piano Prelude yet again, a 40-minute nap on the carpet with my alarm clock at my ear, Sugar Creek park for my 3 mile run, check my email, take a shower. I've given up the shopping approach to breaks; it inevitably gets me way too distracted & poorer than I was the day before. And if I don't pass my boards the first time ('cause I spent all my time clothes grazing at Kohls) I wouldn't have the money to take the exams again anyway - a real double edged sword.

89°

The last few days have been very warm.

I went to work Monday morning, but decided to work from home in the afternoon since most everyone was gone for memorial day. I'm not sure that was a practical decision. My car was at least 120° inside when I pulled out, and it didn't seem much cooler by time I got home. (I don't have air conditioning in my car.)

Studio Repaired Again

A damaged power supply in Paulington Studio's audio workstation rendered the studio useless until a replacement power supply was installed.

Not long after Paulington Studio's recent equipment upgrade, lighting damaged the power supply for the workstation.  This was discovered Sabbath, May 13,  when Adam took a friend out to the studio for some "recreational" recording.  When he discovered that the computer didn't work, he called me to come take a look at it.  We ended up pulling the power supply apart to discover several fried components.  The components had become so hot that a hole was burned completely through the circuit board.

Recent Poll Results

A recent poll requested feedback on what areas of improvement NoLessDays.org would benefit from most. A number of you voted and provided useful feedback... then there were the strawberries. You'd have to read the comments on the poll to to see how it had anything to do with strawberries. I would be interested to know if anyone did actually go picking. Anyhow, for the analysis...

schools almost out

schools almost out and I couldn't be any happier.  except for the fact that I won't be able to see everyone in New Market.  I'll be starting Falg Camp and I'm  really excited about that.  I have one more final tomorrow and I'm on my way home for three days.  Not really excited about that.  I'm going to take myu drivers test and I pray that I wont fail cause I really need and want a car of my own.

Life in a Coconutshell

This is an article I wrote recently for the Adventist Frontiers magazine. It has not been published yet, so I thought I could attract more users if they found out that they were getting the premier reading of certain, prestigious essays.

Sitting in my dorm room, staring at the wall, and thinking about all the homework that I should be doing—and all the other things that I should be doing, I begin to think about how my life was in the Philippines, and what might have happened had I not gone. Of course, I had just turned nine years old when I went, and I didn't have a whole lot of say in the matter. Even so, I was very excited about the whole ordeal. Little did I know what I was getting myself into as we set off into the great unknown. Now, it's been ten years since that date, and I have much to look back on. I know that living in the Philippines has caused me to miss a lot of what's happening in America--especially the friends and connections that I could have had. But what did I get in exchange? Getting bit by a snake, a poisonous centipede, lots of different types of ants, and many other critters of which I don't know the names; swimming in the cold mountain river; helping to save people's lives on a weekly basis; seeing the joy on my friend's faces when the light came on and they really saw Jesus for who He was. Sure I missed out on things here, but what were they? A bunch of no-good rock stars? The new “sag” look? American teen sub-culture? Frankly, I don't think that I missed out on a whole lot. Well, for all you out there, I just want to let you know, it was more than worth it. Going to the Philippines was something that I would never trade—not for all the superficial attractions of the world. And what did I gain? Well, why don't you follow the calling and find out for yourself?

Intresting Photo Gallery

I was just surfing around this afternoon and ran across this http://www.gallery.casd-tn.sk/ - - Old timer flag camp staff might recognize a few faces.  Kind of cool to jog the memory!

Missed the Rain

Well, yesterday it rained.  I was in class, so I waited instead of going out to play in it.  Then, when I got out it had slowed to a drizzle.  I went back to the dorm to change, but by the time I came back out in my bare feet, it had stopped raining and the sun came out.  It was really depressing that I completely missed the rain.  I couldn't even enjoy the puddles.  I have decided to never postpone playing in the rain, again.

Life in General

Well people, this is my second time blogging in my life. I think that it is a very interesting idea. I was watching the news today with Somer, and Bush come on to reassure the American people that everything he was doing was in their best interest. It was amazing how much he looked like his cartoon. I think that it would be really interesting to get a political debate going here. Maybe about what the US should or shouldn't do about the Iran WOMD crisis. Bye now.
